What is NORCET?

NORCET is a competitive exam conducted by AIIMS to recruit nursing officers. The exam has two stages: NORCET Preliminary and NORCET Main. You need to clear both stages to secure a position.

Who Can Apply?

To apply for NORCET 7, you must meet these criteria:

Educational Qualification:

  • **B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing/B.Sc. Nursing** from a recognized institute or university.
  • **B.Sc. (Post-Certificate)/Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing** from a recognized institute or university.
  • Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) with two years of experience in a 50-bedded hospital.

Registration:

  • Registered as a Nurse & Midwife with the Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council.

Age Limit:

  • Between 18 and 30 years. Age relaxations apply as per government norms.

Stage I: NORCET Preliminary

Exam Pattern:

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Questions: 100 MCQs
    • 20 questions on General Knowledge & Aptitude
    • 80 questions on the nursing syllabus
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Marking Scheme:
    • Correct answer: 1 mark
    • Wrong answer: -1/3 mark
  • Qualifying Marks:
    • UR/EWS: 50 percentile
    • OBC: 45 percentile
    • SC/ST: 40 percentile
    • PWBD: Additional 5 percentile relaxation

Selection for Stage II:

  • Top candidates up to five times the total seats in each category will proceed to Stage II.

Stage II: NORCET Main

Exam Pattern:

  • Duration: 180 minutes
  • Questions: 160 MCQs focused on the entire nursing syllabus with case-based scenarios.
  • Total Marks: 160
  • Marking Scheme:
    • Correct answer: 1 mark
    • Wrong answer: -1/3 mark
  • Qualifying Marks:
    • UR/EWS: 50%
    • OBC: 45%
    • SC/ST: 40%
    • PWBD: Additional 5% relaxation

How to Apply?

Application Fees:

  • General/OBC: Rs. 3000/-
  • SC/ST/EWS: Rs. 2400/-
  • PWD: Exempted

Application fees are non-refundable except for SC/ST candidates who appear in the exam and get their fees refunded after result declaration.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Register Online: Create a login ID and password on the AIIMS website.
  2. Fill Application Form: Provide personal, educational, and professional details.
  3. Upload Documents: Submit scanned copies of photos, signatures, and other documents.
  4. Pay Application Fee: Use debit card, credit card, or net banking.
  5. Submit: Review and submit your application.

Important Dates:

  • Stage I: NORCET Preliminary: 15th September 2024
  • Stage II: NORCET Main: 4th October 2024

Admit Card and Exam Day Guidelines:

Download your admit card from the AIIMS website. Bring your admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam center. Arrive early to avoid any last-minute issues.

Result and Selection Process:

  • Stage I: Qualifying candidates move to Stage II.
  • Stage II: Determines final merit and selection.
